Klipsch Forte.
The original Klipsch Forte is a great speaker and a revered classic.
We all know that after 25 years, it's often a good idea to replace the capacitors on speakers.
Now, the original Klipsch Forte is great, but there is much to be gained by upgrading the crossover
with superior parts. With the guidance of an audiophile with 30 years of experience and the contribution
of 3 other helpful audiophiles, these crossovers were completely rebuilt utilizing top notch and expensive
parts, including:
- Mundorf capacitors (including Silver and Oil caps)
Deulund resistors
North Creek Air Core inductors
North Creek Wire
Crites autotranformers
Crites diaphragms
and more
The before and after difference is startling: cleaner, clearer, more refined, more extended, more dynamic, with a deeper bass. These beauties rock better than any speaker I've heard, but I was truly surprised how much classical music gained by the transformation; thrilling dynamics.
NOTE: Will sell
speakers as package deal with crossovers. $995
OR, will sell
crossovers alone for $625.
Or, speakers alone
without crossover [INCLUDES
upgraded diaphragms, North Creek wiring, original crossover] =
$675. There is no pcb board for these; it's all point to point. All the internal wiring is renewed, with double runs to the woofer. The parts alone were almost $900. The crossover is built on a 3/4" MDF base, with a matching cover.
While these have been my favorite speakers, I am seeking to go in a completely different direction. I'd keep them, but we are running out of space and the new speakers are huge.
I am selling these for $995. When you consider that a typical Forte with the original crossover sells for around $600 +/-
and a "typical" crossover costs nearly $300, you are buying this for about the cost of the crossover PARTS.
The drivers are in excellent condition. The cabinet is in very good condition.
Even the original serial #s are intact.
