FYI, if you wanted to play cleanly up high, you should have used the TD12M which is a midrange, the TD12X is a midbass speaker and has a surround resonance at between 500-600hz which shows up in the measurements. I haven't tried the 2512 or the 2206.
Yes, the foam surround of the X causes the midrange FR aberration that is audible in this application. Accordion surrounds don't have the problem, but X was what was available to me at that time. The 2206 sounded very good, but needed a notch for the cone res, which I did not apply, as I was burned out on the project by then. I'd use 10M if I ever try again. Face is building them with 10M, I am looking forward to his impressions as he has a lot of experience building with high end drivers. The B&C woofer also sounds excellent in Jason's Abbey's, very clean through the crossover. The 2512 did not break up, but were more blurred at Fc compared to the others.
Jason: Beyma TPL150 is a pleated tweeter with attached horn, very high sensitivity, very linear FR. Also a nice Z offset to match the woofer.
