Chipamp amplifer for VR-4
« on: 27 Nov 2012, 04:01 pm »
A Dealer of  Micromega amplifiers recommended me the IA100 and the IA60 for the VR-4.

The Interior of the box is Chipamp LM3886 amplifer like from http://chipamp.com, Only with Box more invested.

Is LM3886-based amplifiers can work well with the VR-4?

Have not tried any with my VR-4s. I sold my Gainclone before I had them. I might be a touch concerned about their wattage.

But I am currently running my back-up amp with the VR-4s. It is a Class D Audio kit (CDA254), and it sounds great with these speakers.

100w into 4ohms is above what I'd personally consider my minimum for any VR-4 up to the Gen IIIs (you can get away with a bit less on SR 1,2 and 3s).

You guys should be okay with something like the IA100.
