Subject: Re: Amplifier to PMC Wafer 2

Hi James,

I was lucky to find a 3 year old Bryston B100SST, which has been my dream-amplifier for a very long time, for sale in Hungary. However the price has always been out of my league but now it was not that painful (my wife did not appreciate my purchase but she has forgiven me :-)).

I have it connected to a Bryston BDA-1, a Sony SCD-XA5400ES and a pair of PMC Wafer 2.

This is what music should sound like. The clarity, the authority (the bass is excellent) is what I have been craving for all the time. Now I have to go through my entire CD-collection and listen over and over again. A better Hifi-system definitely lets you enjoy music more. And if I in the future decide to change to bigger PMCs I have a system which can handle that.

Thanks for your advice!

Best Regards,

No the transformer are setup for the countries they are shipped to - so 120 V ,230, 240, and 50 or 60 Hz.

I had a chance to listen carefully to B100 on several occasions pushing GB1, FB1 and OB1.
What a sweet little amp!
OB1`s don`t need anything bigger than B100 as it can bring them to the limit.
Aesthetics? Well, an old school Bryston.
Soundwise a real Bryston!
Engineers` product par excellence!

Hi James,

I am really enjoying the B100 Integrated with MM Phono Module & BR2 Controller.  The B100 delivers a highly accurate, articulate sonic character through my QUAD ESL63's.
The ESL's can be brutal on some recordings and the B100 proves the best amplifier for electrostatic loudspeakers is low-distortion, ultra-clean, high quality, solid state.
The system is faster and the bass is tighter versus the bloom exhibited by the QUAD 909 amplifier.   The MM Phono is much cleaner, exhibiting less background noise that the one
incorporated into my QUAD 99 Preamplifier.  The Mute on the BR2 is a welcome addition, especially queueing an LP.  I also like the feature, that if Mute is activated and you leave the
BR2 on the sofa, just gentle forward or reverse motion on the volume control will take it out of Mute - Nice!

The B100's operation is refined and subtle, no annoying clicks nor turn-on/turn-off thumps.   It is the perfect size for a quality, home system

The BR2 Controller is so superior to the run-of-the-mill, plastic remotes supplied with much audio gear.   One presses the BR2's tactile, function key "once" and receives
immediate but refined feedback from the B100, whether it be Power, Volume, Mute or Input selection.  Its size, weight and rubber feet insures it remains where you
leave it, the backlit motion function is a bonus.  With my other Preamplifier, I was always turning on a light to insure I was pressing the correct function.   The logic of the BR2 key layout is "just right" especially the positioning of Power, Volume and Mute keys.

Best regards,

Stephen Collie
