No deals ever.  We are always asked about "package deals" and this sort of thing.  But we can't discount our prices.

The reason is that we price our speakers as low as humanly possible right from the start (too low according to my accountant).  So there is no room for discounts.

I often wonder if we should raise our prices so that we can offer discounts.  If we raised prices by 20% for example, we could offer 17.5% discounts and arrive at the same price.  But this seems like a game since you arrive at the same point either way.  So we don't do it.

Maybe our philosophy is wrong and we need to raise prices in order to give customers "deals."  But I don't think we will.  As I see it, there are two main advantages to our pricing philosophy.  First, no one will ever pay one penny more than necessary for what they are getting.  And, two, everyone gets speakers at the exact same price.  So you don't have to worry about spending more than the next guy.

I hope that makes sense.

It makes perfect sense and I'm glad I was able to get my speakers before your accountant convinces you to come to your senses.

Quick story about this very subject.
I went to Paul's TV to look at some TVs and I decided on one they had.  I wasn't planing to buy that day but rather the upcoming weekend.  The salesman gave me a 20% coupon for a sale they were having on Saturday and Sunday.  Awesome right?  A discount on a TV I was going to buy anyway.
I show up Saturday all ready to buy and see that they had jacked up their prices for the "Big Sale".  With my 20% off coupon I would have saved a grand total of $2.00 off the regular price.
This left a very bad taste in my mouth.  I did not buy from them nor will I ever buy from them.

Upfront pricing is always a BIG + for me.

Do not change. Your current philosophy is what distiguishes you from the rest of the audio community.  We know quaility wise we are getting a deal, and everyone gets the same deal. Emotiva offers 'deals'. Salk, heaven forbid. Occasionally I buy something from bed bath and beyond. They send me enough of those 20% off coupons. Do I really think I'm getting a deal.  Hardly.  What I tend to think is that they get a certain percentage of folks without coupons to pay a 20% inflated price.

I agree its a great pricing philosophy and certainly builds both brand and residual value.
One look at the majority of used Salk prices makes this apparent.

I only meant it as a joke because the way we get bombarded with all this BF hoopla.
Price to product your speakers are hard to beat. I hope you don't change your pricing, I plan to order a center channel.

Personally, I think Jim doesn't charge enough and it is admirable of him to deliver such incredible sound at modest prices

I figured as much.  But I thought I'd take the opportunity to explain our pricing philosophy.  We get asked about discounts all the time.  I don't blame anyone for asking.  I probably would too and, frankly, it is smart.  But I thought the more people know of our philosophy, the less I would have to explain it.

So thanks for the opportunity.
