New to WTL, and AudioCircle! Hiya!
« on: 22 Oct 2012, 05:33 pm »
Hey folks, I just joined the Well Tempered club, and also just stumbled across this forum!

I'm fairly new to high-end vinyl, so I'm still wrapping my head around VTA, azmuths, and the like.  I found the Amadeus GTA to be kinda hard to set up, but only because the instructions were, to me, a little hard to understand.  I still don't know if I have the wire wrapped around the pulley correctly, but my records sound amazing so perhaps I do!  I'm sure I'll be tweaking it for months on end.

Here's the system I ended up with:

Well Tempered Lab Amadeus GTA
Dynavector XX2 Mk.2 cartridge
Dynavector P75 Mk.3 preamp
Well Tempered Lab power supply
Quadraspire Sunoko-Vent stand

How do you like the Sunoko V? I hear great things about it.
And yes, welcome aboard!

Sorry it's taken me a while to reply, what with work and life in general, I've not had much listening time, much less time to post!

First of all, the Quadraspire Sunoko Vent is an amazing stand, and I love it very much!

I also think I have my setup on the Amadeus GTA is dialed in pretty well.  I can't imagine getting it any better than it is, but I'll post some close-up pics and you guys can maybe point out something I did wrong.  Thanks again!

greetings - great turntable.

This is about the lowest I have seen the golf ball sitting in the cup.  I find the more the ball is in the goo the more dead the sound is.  I think I have too much goo in my cup (and it is hard to get out once you have it) but on my table the music really floats once the ball is only 1/3rd or at most 40% in the goop.  Maybe also cartridge dependent - running a dyna 20xh but have a lyra on the way so might be some tweaking needed with new cart.

What has been your experience?

should add that I am an Avett Brothers fan too but this new record is not hooking in yet for me (compared to last two albums).  Actually should say I don't love the double vinyl 3 tracks a side format as I find things very disjointed compared to single record, or dare I say a cd where the music just flows.  Have struggled with Wilco's newest the same way.

Just because the golf ball is that far down doesn't mean it's that far into the goop. My setup is similar but I only put enough goop in so that the ball is 1/4 - 1/3 submerged. 40% submerged seems like it'd be way too much. YMMV

Hi Erocka2000 and all Audio Circle members.

Excuse my ignorance, but what the goop is made of?

Hiya,
Tonearm fluid is 100,000 cSt silicone...only use that.
