The OP is looking for something in the $1,500 range.  I'm not sure there is a BMC or Pass option, unless he can find a used Pass.  That said, there are several good options in the $1,500 range

Lastly, I'm not sure about how Dennis Murphy feels about expensive or exotic amps, but have no doubt that his amp preferences are not holding him back or limiting his ability to design great sounding speakers.

Raises hand.............

Using a PL Prologue 5 with my ST's at the moment.

What are your overall impressions of it? Have you used a different amp previously to compare how the sound character changed?

To Jackman: You are exactly right, Dennis and Jim are making speakers that are not only beautiful to look at but really great to listen to. They make an exceptional product and as far as the amplifiers go there are a lot of good ones in the $1500 to $2000 range for sure.

does anyone have any experience with an AVA FET-Valve 300  and SongTowers?  would this be a good match?

Squirrel,

I've never heard that amp with those speakers but it's a great amp.  Fetvalve amps sound very good to me, but I've never heard an AVA amp that I didn't like.   I even tried an older OmegaStar on a system years ago and was amazed by how closely it sounded to my Fetvalve.  Both were excellent amps.  Good luck.

I have a Fet Valve Ultra+ 550 with HT2-TLs. What can I say, this combo kicks ass :thumb:.
I would say yes, but the Fet Valve 300 might be a little over kill for the Song Towers but again I like a little head room
Remember Jim and Dennis use Van Alstine amps.
Jackman knows!
