Great American Beer Festival 2012

While I'm sure most of the members of this forum are more interested in the posts of Pez and Tyson about RMAF, it was not the only festival to take place in Denver this weekend.

The GABF has been going on for well over 20 years. This year it was the largest ever. There were over 2,700 beers available to sample on the floor of the Denver Convention Center. Tickets for all four sessions sold out in less than 45 minutes. There are roughly 50,000 tickets available for four 5.5 hours tasting sessions. Tickets were $65.00 per session plus a fair amount of handling fees. At one point tickets were being offered for $500.00 a piece on E-bay.

I attended the Thursday night session. Let's just say a good time was had.

All of the 2,700+ beers were judged over a period of four days by 180 judges. The beers were broken down into 84 categories. The only things that mattered was how close the beer came to the style guidelines. No measurements were taken. Subjective opinions only.

Here is the link to a list of the winners in pdf format.

If only they could combine RMAF and GABF.  :thumb:

Sounds like fun though Wayne.
Did you have a dog in this hunt?
