Just was listening to it now. I am very familiar with the originals and these do present a new
twist on old material. That being said these re-recorded tracks could be probably best be
catagorized as a more mature rendering of the originals.
I highly suspect that some shortcuts were taken, most likely samplers were used instead of
the full complement of string players and things like that to cut production cost.
They are very nice to listen to but to me lack the edge and drive that I have come to love
in the original recordings. It was nice to listen to in streaming but I think I would have
been slightly disappointed if I had paid money to buy the thing.

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping for a spectacular review  that would make me want to buy this at all cost, but I think I'll wait to get a listen first. thanks, Pete

Completely agree!  I would think Jeff Lynne, who has always been a perfectionist would have insisted that the ELO catalog be remastered in a way that would do justice to the music.  Very disappointing.

I have it, I bought it as I wanted a good copy of an ELO album. All the albums I have heard from ELO are not so good.
I had come to the conclusion that ELO albums are badly recorded or mastered. I thought by getting a re-mastered copy I would get a better recording, but this re-mastered copy is a little better but not by much. :(

I love the songs on the greatest hits cd I have, but the audio quality isn't up to par. I was optimistic about this release, but now I am just dissapointed...Jeff Lynne get your priorities in order. Your fans deserve better...

I think ELO fans would have been better served by HiDef releases of the old masters.
Mac is a very good engineer and I think HiDef would really bring great life and
sonic quality to the old recordings.
Fact is JL is like any old Rock and Roll guy. The bank account needs recharging and
there is far more money in a new release than re-mastered old stuff. IMHO
Which is why I think this really wasn't about the fans.

I don't think this is a remastered album. I believe he rerecorded all of the songs in a way that agrees with his present priorities. There was a video about him on Palladium and to me it looked like he and one other guy played all the instruments and recorded all the songs in his house. His house is like one giant recording studio. Every room filled with instruments and recording equipment amongst the everyday furniture.
