FS: Aural Thrills - Tube (12AU7) Interconnects

These are normally $500 but the manufacturer has a sale on them now for $400. I'm downsizing, so I'll sell these for $250. Made in Garland, TX by Tom Kenny.

From Tom's website:
Active cables are dead quiet due to an electrical charge which is applied to the shield surrounding the signal wires. The shield acts as an electro-magnetic device, pulling in unwanted RFI/EMI pollution. Removing this pollution creates a black background which allows minute details which you have never heard before. Holographic is the best way to describe the effect. Three dimensional with exact instrument placement and the blackest background that you have ever heard, guaranteed!

Many audiophiles mistakenly believe that by using an active shield, the resulting sound is manipulated and will sound artificial and colored. Just the opposite is true. By surrounding the signal with an active shield you are preserving the intended signal with no outside interference. You will be surprised by how much electrical pollution is in the air once it is removed.

As you can see, the box houses an actual 12AU7 twin triode tube amplifier. It is powered by a DC-DC converter and the output of the tube amp charges the shield to about 50 volts. The tube amp samples the audio signal for it's input section and uses that signal to control the charge to the shield. What is created is a pseudo balanced interconnect, as the shield is effectively neutral relative to both conductors. Relative to the equipment ground, the shield sees half the signal voltage swing. Einstein would ponder the following question, what if the wires do not know that ground is ground? The results are stunning! 99.99% pure Copper twisted pair wires are used for a huge sound stage but still with great inner detail.

The unit is powered by a 500ma, 12v DC power supply. A 500ma power supply from  any country can be used thus creating a cable that can be used any where in the world. Just plug in and get ready to be amazed. Just like your other tube amplifiers you can use different brands of tubes to fine tune the sound qualities. Tube rolling a cable? Fun Fun Fun!

The care that goes into making a pair of these cables is evident in the details and quality of materials being used. I have isolated every sound quality by many, many, hours of critical listening. From the solder, to the Rca connectors, to the wire being used, I know exactly what each element brings to the sonic table. It is by careful mixing of each harmonic ingredient that Aural Thrills Audio has arrived at this design.
