Plant said years ago he was not interested in going out and playing old music, like some sort of has been band. He wanted to move forward both musically and personally.

It is not unsual.
The Danish guitar virtuose Jan Akkerman refuse to return with Focus in 2003, so they hired Jan Dumé for the guitar, also a great six string player that play life like Akkerman, I loved boths.

Jimmy hands are in great shape yet, seems he dont want all the bother of trips/gigs.

Good for Mr. Page.  I suspect that few reunions come about by the desire to create music.  I respect his desire to move forward with his music instead of trying to make another buck by cashing in on his past.

I think it's a shame, even one large tour would be nice. A lot of young fans would love to see Led Zeppelin, and would consider it a priveledge to see them, not a cheap cash in on the band's part. It's a shame.

It's not like Jimmy Page is some trailblazer for modern music anyway.

A little story. Well see if I can see back through all the haze of 40 years? Back in 71 or was it 72 we saw the DEAD at Kezar in Golden Gate Park you know where the 49er played and where Dirty Harry shot that guy. I can't remember if it was the first sound test for the Wall Of Sound? I was at all three. Anyway the next week end we made the trek down from Lakeport to see Led Zeppelin at Kezar. My my! I can only guess who the other bands were, was it Waylin Jennings and maybe the Flock? It's hard to remember it was a little smokey even out side . Well after they played we were all ready for the Zep! But I guess the Zeppelin got grounded some were between L.A. and S.F.. So while we all were wayting ( that would be a little over five hours) Lee Mikeles come over from Marin county with his Hanmod 3B and put on a 4 hour show until the Zep landed. Well I have seen, shit many shows over the years but that was, I'm not kidding I don't leave shows but we were some of the last people to leave and it only took well not very long to get an ear full of that shit!! Really that was bad or should I say it sucked!! But I well say Zeppelin sounds really good on my Hifi but live what we heard not too go.

I saw them a couple times. I knew they were something special when I saw them on their first US tour.

Wow.  Other than last name, we just really don't share much.  Oh well, you thought Hendrix was a demi-god but I don't have a single recording of his.  I have most all of Pages work and do consider him a trailblazer.  Thank goodness for a variety of music for every one to find something that they like.

You misunderstood my sentence. I meant he isn't doing anything current that is of any note or relevence.

Yep, I misinterpreted.  And you're right about the lack of relevence for Page.  It is really interesting how musical creativity- shoot, creativity in general, tends to diminish as we get older.  There aren't many 60+ year olds changing the way we live, think, or play.

I saw Led Zeppelin in June of 1972 in Seattle and my friends and I also left before the end of the show. I didn't think they were that great live. The week before I had seen Jethro Tull and it was my all time favorite concert - I thought guitarist Martin Barre was a far better player than Page -  and the week before that I saw the Rolling Stones with Mick Taylor at the same place and I liked them better than Zeppelin too. 1972 was a good year for concerts.

I do admire Robert Plant's constant exloration of new music, I really liked his band Strange Sensation and his collaboration with Allison Krauss and the Band of Joy. He really is a renaissance man.
