There's no substitute for hearing it, but these cans look killer. There's lots of people out there that don't like wearing headphones, or can only wear them for a couple of hrs (me). If someone wants a decent pr for an occasional necessity, this one seems to have the versatility to adapt to all occasions. The only thing is, at 96db it also looks like an amp is needed.
We don't listen to square waves, but sq wave performance tells a lot about fidelity. There are $1K+ phones that don't look this good. These have very little initial overshoot and near perfectly square. Looks almost identical to LCD-3. Frequency response is close too, at least out to 12K where Custom one falls off and LCD-3 rises. Measurements were taken in linear bass position, probably with them closed. I'm guessing that in the semi-open position you can tune the bass for the source material, which we all know can vary dramatically.
They probably have a thread going in HeadFi. I'll look when I get a chance. I have a feeling that Beyer will sell a lot of these.
