I was sitting yesterday with my Tablet (Asus TF300) and listening to MOG and thought to myself this is what I do now when I listen. TV is on with a game or whatever as background and tablet is in my lap surfing and listening to tunes. I use headphones when I watch movies late at night but rarely anymore with my system. I can't remember the last time I fired up the Asgard??
 How about you guys??? :thumb:

Almost always one of my systems.  i hate to admit it, but
once I started using separate dacs in my streaming setups,
I always use a source-dac-amp-phones arrangement.
best,
Hibuck....

My system is in a back room which I haven't fired up in a while.

Mostly I either use my Hisound Studio (DAP) or I have been using a USB DAC with my laptop streaming Mog.
The DAP or USB DAC feed a variety of IEM's.  I have been on a IEM kick lately, I think I bought 7 IEM's since Aug or so.
I also may use a "Wire" or O2 amp for the USB DAC, although the USB DAC can drive the IEM's itself.

I use my system.
While out running or doing yard work I use my IEM's.

I use my system every day and only use headphones on the move or while at work.

I have my headphone setup at my work desk.  It's on all day   :thumb:

For you guys talking about IEMs, have you tried custom molds yet?

Yes I tried it with my Etymotic ER-4S, but I prefer to use Comply Foam on them. The Comply foam gives better isolation and almost as comfortable as the custom moulds.

If I had the means I would try customs but as of now I enjoy and get a great fit with my iems. I like trying different ones on different days etc. I just ordered some UE 500's and I'm really pumped to try them. The UE 700's I used to have were the only thing I ever traded away and regretted.
I'm using iems for music 90% of the time and my HE5's or Grado's for music and movies.
I hit the recliner today with my tablet/iem setup and fell out for a solid hour or so......lol.

I've been thinking about trying custom molds for a while now, but still haven't pulled the trigger.
For some of my IEM's I am using comply tips, for some others I use double flange tips that came with.

In one room I have an old Gateway desktop with Jriver, Flacs, Q701...via a USB ODAC and O2 am...

In the serious man cave I have LCD2's with Integrated O2/ODAC and HRT MSii+ easily switchable to test etc..
This is attached to a DIY HTPC with Jriver. which has wireless for browsing etc...updating if needed.
All SSD boot drives for OS and for Flacs...

Listen mostly in 'semi-serious' mode.....not just for background.

All music is backed up on 8 seperate disks that i sync up every few months.

No wireless.

Most of my headphone listening is done using the iBasso DX100 into the ALO RX3-Mk2 balanced as most of my headphones are configured with the Moon Audio Silver Dragon IEM cables; i.e., Senn Amperior, Senn HD-25, Beyer DT1350, and my Weston W4r and ES5s.  Although lately using my Samsung S3 I have been listening out of it with my DT1350 and Amperior.

Headphones are used almost exclusively for watching movies nowadays.  The T1's in the main system with the projector late at night when the rest of the family is asleep.  Or, Etymotics directly out of my Air or iPad when someone is watching something crappy on the bigscreen :P

Via my primary system almost exclusively.  The only exception is on Sunday afternoons I listen to a particular radio station streamed by I Heart Radio on my ipad.

"Yesterday I used my ASUS tablet streaming MOG into my new Amperiors and I must say if that's all I had I'd be OK with it." until I tried my new cans with my Asgard, WOW!!  :o :o
Thats the setup that sounds absolutely the best in my cave, I was rarely using it even considered selling it, WELL thats gonna change!!!! I cranked up some of my hi-def tunes for the first time with these new phones and it pretty much blew me away. I'm back, totally re-energized about the hobby and thinking what I should get next...LOL.

I was in a real lull for the past few months, listening sporadically to my system but mostly portables if at all. I turned on the setup for a 5 minute quick listen to hear the new headphones with an amp and ended up listening for about 3 hours....LOL.....its amazing what sound can do, don't you think???? :slap: :dunno: :wtf:

Had a similar experience for the last 3 weeks or so...then jumped on a set of Koss ESP-950's
on Black Friday.  At first I thought they were a bit thin sounding and bass shy, then instead of
streaming, I hooked up my laptop and fired up JRiver and fed that to my PS Audio DLIII...wow!
I did turn on the DSP for the crossfeed, which boosted the midbass a bit, but the transparency
and the soundstage blew me away.  The old saw about 'hearing things for the first time in
familiar recordings' was absolutely true.

Good thing I have a home system to fall back on when these times of ennui occur.
regards,
Hibuck....
