I recently sold my pre/pro (Sony TAE9000ES) due to money problems and I'm planning out my new direction. I still have my old pro logic Lexicon CP-3+ (great unit but no AC-3) If I'm only using my mains and a sub is there much difference between the two formats? (DD/DPL1) The CP-3 has seprerate sub outs, crossover settings, etc.
I realize DD is a far superior format but I was actually only using mains with sub for LFE alone for a long time and was satisfied.

I use mains plus sub for LFE in my HT and I have had a full SS setup before, I think HT can be done in a modest sized room very very well with only 2 channels.  MCH is overrated IMHO.

Can you use the sub in two channel stereo with the Lex?  If so, I would do just that and forget trying DPL with two speakers.
