I just bought a pair of AKG Q701s at the suggestion of DaveNote....you can read his 3-part thread here in the headphone section. They just arrived a few mins ago so when I get home I'll give a listen. I can offer you some feedback on how they compare to the T1s if you like.

It's hard for me to imagine they will be in the same league as the T1s, but I will be honest with my evaluation.
Great, I will look forward your impressions. Thanks

I found hd800 so impressive sounding with woo audio 5 - wow - almost perfect - yes I heard some peakiness up top
T1 I was underwhelmed every time I heard it at shows including woo audio amplification
Then again I am one of those who have not been able to find a Grado that I could live with...

That said I have not heard a more musical headphone than LCD2 regardless of amplification!

I have HE500 - they are very capable phones - hard to find any fault with them - of couse they require a couple of horse powers of fine amplification.

Good thing we all have different tastes and music preferences - otherwise there would be no purpose of so many companies with varied offerings :)

I've been hearing that the new HD700's are actually outperforming the HD800's. These are from people who own the HD800. Food for thought.

Nope. Actually the HD700 is something between the HD650 - HD800.

Soundstage is not as expansive as the HD800's and there's less instrumental separation.. but in other aspects they share some sonic similarities.

I had a explanation on it:
I believe the HD800 is the best sound on Sennheiser brand, but as the HD800 is more transparent and revelator than the HD700, it will show faithfully any small prob with amps, recordings etc...
