HI all,
Glad to let you know that after extensive testing all my Mac/BDP1 file issues are gone.

- drive_code_id107 was solved by formatting the hdd;s in disc-utility in msdos (fat32) with the MBR option
- all other file issues that hampered Max/BDP1 operation and slowed it down, had to do with multiple operating systems file handling, and Apple's OS putting "apple double files" and "forks":
.DS_store, _*, ._filename, etc etc.
These caused enormous amounts of unreadable files in MAx's system logs (i had 37964 and 31673 unreadable apple file errors the bdp1 indexed.... and 17000+ on my NAS-share..).
read all about it on
http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-10329972-263.html (amongst others)
These files can safely be deleted if only the BDP1 reads/uses them, but in MAC/Finder that's a real pain. Ive found 2 utilities that do the job , delete and prevent recreation of those "apple double" files.
BlueHarvest ,
http://www.zeroonetwenty.com/blueharvest4 will kill and prevent the files
and Tinkertool does an even better job in deleting them
http://www.bresink.com/osx/TinkerTool.htmlAll MPD error messages are gone, and updating time has gone down , and benchmarking has gone up enormously. A real performance boost!
Apple users: highly recommended!
want to express my appreciation to Chris, who made this testing and benchmarking possible in the first place, in adapting and improving MAX2! thanks!
Cheers!
Marius
