Selling this for my parents. I bought it for them second hand in 2005 for a home theater for mostly watching tv. They probably only used it a handful of times in 7 years, so I'm selling off the pieces.
This unit hails from the late 90's, one of the first batch of Dolby Digital processors for home theater of that era. It went for low $2000's retail when new. The reviews all note that it does a fine job with the surround sound processing, but it had really strong stereo sound quality compared with other processors. This was a truly high end unit for the time.
I've used it at my parents with Klipsch Heresy, Horn Shoppe Horns, and recently in my own home tried it with my current Tekton Lores in my main rig. It didn't embarrass itself at all as a stereo preamp. This would be a great entry level priced component with some really good performance as a preamp that happens to be able to do the surround sound basics as well. Great for a stereo integrated with TV.
I don't have original box or manual, but I may be able to find them in parents basement next time I'm home. Comes with the remote though, and is in full working order.
