I am going through a severe and somewhat painful downsizing of my audio system, and selling my pair of Magnepan 10.1QR speakers modified with Alphacore foil inductors and Obbligato film oil caps at an asking price of $350.
NOTE: I also have for sale (under a separate listing) a pair of Class D Audio SDS-450 mono amplifiers. Amps and speakers package deal – $750.
For now, this is a LOCAL SALE ONLY (DETROIT) as I do not have a way of effectively packaging the amps or speakers for shipment.
MAGNEPAN 10.1QR SPEAKER DETAILS
I am the original owner of these rarely seen Magnepan speakers from the late ‘90s, which I purchased new from a local dealer. They are small (for Magnepans) and designed to be used with a subwoofer as their bass rolls of at around 80hz. I’ve also owned the much larger MG1.6QR and in many ways prefer the sound of these “tiny" maggies – I feel they image better while still delivering a huge soundstage and have better integrate between the panel sections.
The stock crossovers and connector panels have been completely replaced on these speakers. The original values were kept, but the components are now the highly regarded (and pricey) Alphacore foil inductors and the caps are Obbligato film oil types. Wiring is Kimber PBJ and the input jack is a Neutrik SpeakOn 4-pole connector configured for easy bi-wiring. If desired, I will include a pair of matching SpeakOn jacks that you can use with your own bare speaker wire.
The speakers are in overall good shape. There is a bit of dust, a few scratches and a more significant dent/scratch on one of the side rails, but very presentable. Asking price is $350 for the pair.
