OK, I know someone who has just bought a Marantz Blu-ray Receiver for their bedroom and wondering what speakers people might advise?
Output is 2 x 70W into 6 ohms and has an RCA Sub out as well. Cant really run run OB for the application. and it looks like it will not run 4ohm loads.
Thinking either the X-MTM Encore, the A/V-3 or the N3? and either one or two 12" servo subs (although, not sure if there is any chance of a single sub running out of puff against satelites with only 70w (or less into 8ohms of course))?
Or are all these choices overkill connected up to a little Marantz receiver?
Any suggestions or advice wil be welcome here

Well I'd look at the distortion numbers for the amp, if they provide them.
I would imagine the amp is not all that great and that 70Watts is probably
not a RMS rating anyway.
Others know Danny's speakers better than me but I wouldn't think you
need a very ambitious speaker to match up with the amp in the Marantz.
IMHO I've got a vintage 4270 and the new stuff don't hold a candle to the
older Marantz. Probably a monolithic amp and not discrete so don't
overspend on speakers. My thoughts anyway.

Your speaker choice is governed more by the bedroom size and layout than the receiver choice. This Marantz got very good online reviews sonically, only let down by it's limited flexibility. For smaller rooms GR's sealed N2X or N3S allow placement closer to the front wall. Stand height should put the tweeter at least ear level when you are in your listening position (optionally  horizontally centered on your display) The biggest problem I had with a way overboard bedroom system is that when sitting in bed you are generally against the back wall instead of 1/5th into the room = boom bass bloat. The GR's servo subwoofer Parametric EQualization tuning will help a lot with removing the worst offending bass mode.

Have you recapped your vintage amp?

It's on the list, but not done.
I'd also like to find a good deal on a Tate/Fosgate SQ decoder
but that hasn't happened yet either.
Or a proper replacement stylus for the V-15 Type IV but
that hasn't happened yet either.
My vintage to do list is quite long, but I've got the equipment;
so that's a start.

Yeah, apon further investigation, 70watts was at 10% THD! 
So yeah, 55w into 6ohms, and, I guess, 40 into 8 ohms(?)

So that being said, does anybody know which of those 3 choices has the highest sensitivity (and is there more than a dB in it?)?
