Dynaco ST-70 Ultimate Van Alstine Rebuild tube amp
« on: 19 Jun 2012, 06:00 pm »
Here is the best DYNACO ST-70 Rebuild available at a very reasonable cost. This is a Van Alstine Ultimate 70 Rebuild. I found a mint, one owner, Dynaco ST-70 and sent it to Audio by Van Alstine for a total rebuild. Their cost was a little over $900....plus the cost of the Dynaco ST-70... I have $1300 into this plus some additional shipping costs.  The rebuild is now $1000 instead of $900.  This was shipped to me 1/7/10 and has about 150 hours of playtime.  It has the original Van Alstine tubes...comes with the sales slip and operating instructions.  It would be tough to find one in any better condition. I have additional photos if you need them. It comes with the cage as well. First $1000 takes it... only serious offers considered.  This will be available to members at this forum until July 4th when it will then go to ebay.  I will ship to lower 48 only.  Thanks for reading.
ITEM SOLD JULY 3RD

Why would you only ship to the lower 48?  It is difficult enough up here without such discrimination.  Sorry to pick on you.  I see the same thing on audiogon with no explanation.

Just for the seller's information, it is no big deal to ship audio equipment to Canada.  The cost for shipping by either UPS or Parcel Post is about the same and full insurance is available either way.  We do this quite often.

UPS costs the client a bit more because there will be an additional customs brokerage fee charged by them.

If the item is US made, a statement saying the following should be shown on the invoice:

I certify that the goods referenced in this invoice comply with the origin requirements specified for these goods in the U.S. - Canada Free Trade Agreement, and that further processing or assembly in a third country has not occurred subsequent to processing or assembly in the U.S.A.

_____________________________  Owner,   date.

This will save the buyer substantially on incoming duty.  Duty on used US made equipment is probably even less.

We have no issues at all shipping either way to Canada.  No loses or time delays either way.

It is safe to accept major credit cards from Canadian customers as address verification is provided to merchants.  Pay Pal is pretty foolproof too.  Of course only allow shipping to the same address as the billing address.

Regards,

Frank Van Alstine

PS  By the way, for any US made equipment coming to us from Canada, I advise the sender to mark on the package the statement,  US Made Goods for repair and return and ship to us via Parcel Post.

This way the goods will show up at our door duty and hassle free.

Frank,  Thanks for the info on Canada.  I'm even in the USA, "but lower 48" excludes AK and HI.  No problem to ship.  No customs.  And if the buyer is shouldering the shipping costs, there is no difference to the seller.

I'll pipe down now.  Just a recurring frustration.  Part of the reason for my tag line by my avatar.

The only real difference between shipping to Alaska is that UPS is usually less expensive than parcel post.

UPS now has custom brown trucks outfitted with either pontoons or snow skis so that 3 Day surface delivery is now available to both Alaska and Hawaii.  Amazing!

You think Alaska is hard, try Australia.

We certainly can build you a Vision DAC/Preamp combo unit with our phase inverter bridge circuits built in.  I am not aware of any HDMI direct adapter circuits to strip digital audio from HDMI that could be built into a preamp or DAC economically yet.

Simon, if you want coax digital audio from an HDMI source, check out this unit:

http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10110&cs_id=1011002&p_id=7974&seq=1&format=1#largeimage

The price is right, it might be the answer you have been looking for.

I actually ordered one of these for myself.  I figure its worth $80 to be able to strip out coax digital from my cable box for the best possible sound from my AV system.  Right now it consists of Oppo BluRay player, Vision DAC/preamp combo unit, Fet Valve 600R power amp, and a pair of Salk HT2TL speakers, flanking a big Sony flat panel HD TV set.  Very nice!
