Album of the year...

I buy a lot of new music. And this is the best so far this year IMHO.  Original as hell and a man at the very peak of his long career.  Tour-de-force.

I love Jack White and I like Blunderbuss but to me it sounds pretty much like you'd expect.

This hasn't been the greatest year for new music so far...

That Jack White album is really good, but my favorite so far is The Menzingers - On the Impossible Past.

I liked the Jack White and Menzingers albums, but I didn't buy those albums. I don't buy a whole lot of new albums (mainly buy used), but this was one of the three new releases I bought this year. Others were Sharon Van Etten's Tramp and the new Norah Jones album. This is the one I listen to most often.

I just discovered the Cave Singers a couple of months ago. Their new album The Witch is EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!
as are all of their albums.
Here is a few fine cuts off of this album : :thumb:

and a rocker:  Black Leaf            http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3nzDVF1dEY&feature=related
The Cave Singers other two studio albums are equally as impressive if not better.   2009's Welcome Joy and Invitation Songs , from 2007.
Enjoy the Music!!

I just downloaded Regina Spektor's new album What We Saw from the Cheap Seats from HDTracks and it is very enjoyable.   It is my favorite so far.

I've heard good things about that...saw her on the Colbert Report a few days ago. Impressive.

I've bought a bunch of new releases this year, which is unusual for me. Maybe it's because of all the upgrades I've made to my system recently. My favorite so far, considering we're only half way into the year, is Bonnie Rait's "Slipstream".

Let's see...in reviewing my purchases this year

I'm going with nothing. Not a single one of them makes me go wow.

There are some unexpected surprises
Norah Jones - Little Broken Hearts - while I'm not really a fan, I thought this one was very good.
Garbage - Not Your Kind of People  - definitely my kind of band
Haley Reinhart - Listen Up!
Tori Amos - Night of Hunters (late 2011 though)

However, my worst of the year is a run away
John Mayer - Born and Raised - Bored and Bored - this guy has turned into a pile of boredom

Hands down winner:  Morglbl  Brutal Romance

"Crazy French phenomenon Christophe Godin applies his nothing short of bonkers rock guitar abilities to this ferocious yet tongue-in-cheek display of post-Vai/Zappa composition and musicianship. Jazzy it ain't, but full of immense playing technique and cool tones it most definitely is. Be afraid." - Guitarist Magazine
