Earl Geddes Interview

Good interview with Earl Geddes. It covers his and Lidia Lee's research into psycho acoustics and what is important in terms of distortion to the listener. Also some ideas on Horn design and low freq acoustics in the small listening rooms.

Indeed. It is his best interview yet.

In addition, there are plenty of other interviews at Dagogo (a nice Ezine!) for those interested, like with the founders of  HD Acoustics, Pure Music, Sanders Sound Systems, YG Acoustics, etc...all by Laurence Borden.

Anand.

I'll paraphrase it. "your all wrong, I'm right"
I joke and own his speakers.

All engineering involves prioritizing and tradeoffs. Earl is very clear on what he values in getting the best sound into the room. All too often designers are unable to do this. When reading his findings on diffraction it affects how I view cabinets without rounded edges on the front baffle.

A also like his adding room modes in his explanation of placing multiple subs in a room.

He wouldn't spell it wrong ;-)

He's very confident in his beliefs for sure, but his reasoning is quite sound and backed up with solid evidence. His home system that I heard was inexpensively put together and sounded fantastic. I hope he gets a chance to do more research on speaker design.

Yeah, you're right about his attitude, always polite and a perfect gentleman, but he is quite sure he's correct.  I've had several email exchanges with Earl over the years and I really like the guy, so I give him a lot of leeway to state his opinions, which has taught me a great deal about speakers and room interaction.

PS, cujo meant the you're vs your part.  I'm sure he was joking back with you, as I know cujobob is aware that no one likes a spelling nazi who is serious about his posts.
