I'm new to this Circle but have known about AVA and Frank rep. for years.
I recently purchased a FET Valve Ultra 350 from a friend and I can't tell you what a great amp it is.  I'm coming into a period of my life where I want to get something that is reliable and won't break the bank.  My preferred preamp is the Reference Line passive.  I haven't tried the Emotive Audio preamp yet but will once I stop playing music.  My speakers are the Shahinian Obelisks and the compplement is incredible.

When I'm ready to upgrade the 350 what is available?

Double Die Exicon Mos-Fets included on all Fet Valve Amp upgrades as required
Note: Fet Valve 400R and 600R upgrades available with standard black faceplate only.

I have the 600R which was an upgrade from the 550. Overall better bottom end (effortless power and precise) and so smooth through the entire frequency band. I was doubtful of upgrading at 1st but well worth the investment IMO. And, as a side benefit it runs significantly cooler which helps in the summer months.

I upgraded my AVA 350 to 400R.  Worth every penny.  Better Bass,  Smoother highs, Better everything.

Here is a suggestion: every day when you are about to listen to your 350, pay your piggy bank for the privilege some small amount. Enjoy your 350 immensely along the way, and when the piggy bank has enough to send to Frank for the upgrade do it. While you wait (that's the tough part), remind yourself of how impossible it would be for the amp to sound any better. When the 400R comes back, enjoy your astonishment.
