Any interest in flat packs or cabs for GR x-statik kits? Cheap!

What's up everyone! GR Research is running a pretty good deal on the x-statik kits and finished voce center channels. $369 for a kit I think, or $600 for a kit and finished x voce center. Really good deal for a nicely finished full gloss voce at that price.

I think I'm going to build a set and offer flat packs if any one is intereted? Cnc'd, 1 3/8 baffles, 3/4 roundover of the front and back, butt joints, dadoed bracing in the woofer cab for easy construction. I can adjust things slightly too if you think you want to veneer the woofer section and paint the front and back (probably what I'm going to do). plans will be to GR specs, with the exception of the angle on the top of the woofer section, I'm just going to cut them flat, so that the top of the box is parallel to the floor. I paid $300 a few years ago for a so-so quality flat pack for ob-7's almost the same box, but with 2 more smaller woofer holes. How's $150 sound for these? :thumb: I'll put them together also if you want a completed raw box.

I can get enough baffles out of the 5x8 sheet if mdf for 6 pairs, so that's probably a good starting point. I might put the offer over on the gr circle too depending on interest here. They'll be a little more expensive there due to extra packing costs for shipping. I'm in Raleigh near brier creek area, NW, can meet in the area or deliver ~30 miles for an extra $10 in gas.

If there's interest too I can probably get some internal damping material like no-rez, 1 lb damping barier with acoustic foam on top. Treat it like a group buy. I havn't ordered any in a while, there is a minimum, but I'll pass it along for whatever cost is.

Open to suggestions too!

Thanks,
Giyan

I don't see the 'Industry Ads' circle anymore, and this doesn't fit in 'Sweet Deals' circle, so we'll try it here for now, because Giyan intends only the six pairs for local sales at this point. I'm sure there would be interest in the GR circle, as other GR flat pack opportunities have appeared over the years, but you have to check with Danny if it's appropriate and beneficial to GR.

Be sure to post some pictures, Giyan! Are you bringing a pair to the g2g?

I think you mean 4x8 sheet of MDF? Make sure your parts will fit! :D

Hey Rich!

Thanks for replying, and letting the post stick around for a little, remove if need be though. Yeah, figured I would check with the local group first, havn't looked into shipping too much yet.

If I can get a pair together I'll def bring them to the gtg, no gaurantees though :P If not those, maybe ob7's? Those actually aren't finished either.. Both would need subs also.

Nope, 5x8 :D These thicker sheets of mdf come in larger odd sizes, up to 10ft or more. The max I can fit on the cnc I use is a 5x8 so it works out, thats the only thing I can find over 3/4in right now also. If I can program the computer to slightly overlap a previous cut (1/2in bit) I think I can get 12 baffles, if not 10...

See you guys in a few weeks!

5x8, that's cool!
CNC is cool too!  :thumb:

Sorry, there won't be any subs at the G2G. Maybe we'll hear them at a meet at your place sometime.  :thumb:
