In-Stock Panasonic SA-XR45.......Maybe!!
« on: 20 Mar 2004, 11:52 pm »
This is a public service announcement!!! I ran across a vendor today that may have a Panasonic SA-XR45 available for those still looking. Here is the URL:

http://www.soundcenter.net/cgi-soundcenter/catalog/SNCstore.cgi?user_action=detail&catalogno=SA-XR45S

They show "in stock" for the silver model on the website and they show "discontinued" for the black model. This leads me to believe they may actually be up to date on really have some silver ones available.

I do not have any personal experience with this vendor, I just ran across it today while doing some surfing. If someone is successful with a purchase from this vendor, please post with your experience. And, send me a few bucks for finders fee!!!! :D

Enjoy,

TIC

jester,

Good Luck! Hopefully they really do have it in stock and you receive it in a couple of days. I know a lot of folks are looking for a souce for this unit. If you happen to e-mail or speak with this vendor, pleas ask them how many they have in stock and post back here.

Good luck and enjoy,

TIC

I would be careful with this vendor.
They are listed as 1/2 a star out of 5 stars on www.pricescan.com
That's about as low a rating as you can get from them.

Well, they've charged my card.  I will followup and see how they respond, and post my findings.  Thanks for the warning!

Thanks for the warning, though I'm not sure if I agree with the rating that pricescan gave it.  Their rating system is a little bit funny.

I called the company on Monday morning to check stock and was informed that they did indeed have several in stock.  However, I had to wait till evening to order, which apparently was too long.  I received a very nice email the next day apologizing that they were out of stock and detailed that they had received 4 orders prior to mine and had gone out.

I asked for details about when the next shipment was due or if it was known when the replacements would be in and was informed that the next shipment was due within a week and that the replacement xr50 an xr70's weren't expected till May.

Having dealt with some scuzzy dealers in the past I would say that I don't get that sort of impression from this place.  Though we will see if I ever get off the backorder list.

I hope you get one. I was on backorder for a 45 at buy.com for about 6 weeks, and it never got filled.
What scares me is when a product is out of stock EVERYWHERE in the entire country, except for one little place with a horrible rating.
If you do get one, make absolutely sure that it is not a refurb.
Right now, EBAY is "lousy" with refurb. 25's. That's all that is out there.

The one thing that caught my attention about this vendor is that they look to be a B&M store in a shopping Center in Clarksdale, MS. They don't appear to be a boiler room operation in NY/NJ like some of the other bait & switch shops that I've heard about.

This alone increases my confidence in the vendor. But, the proof is in the pudding! If it shows, considerer youself very fortunate to get one of the last of the readily available '45s on the net!

And send me that finders fee!! :D

Enjoy,

B&M is "Brick and mortar", which means a real physical store, not just a mailorder warehouse.

I ORDERED ONE

Well, I just got off the phone with the guy (or a guy) at that place, and I decided that I was dead wrong. He said that he had 6 of them coming in by the end of this month. I asked if they were refurb. and he said "no sir, they are brand new." I asked how he could get them if everyone else was out, and he said that he was a Pansonic exclusive shop, and that Panasonic was shifting some stock from the west coast and that he was able to grab them.
He was one of the most polite people I have ever spoken with.
Well, I got one of them on order 5 minutes ago.
Thanks for the tip!

Got my Unit!
Good news! :D

Just got my unit, as promised by the service rep at Sound Center.  The package did indeed contain an SA-XR45, and it does not look refurbished, broken, or damaged in any way.  There was an outer box also, unlike some vendors that ship the product without double-boxing.  The shipping label says "Fedex Relabeled", so I am not sure who actually delivered the box.  They worked quickly and silently.

The units still seem to be in stock at this vendor, though I don't know how extensive the backlog might be.

THAT IS GREAT!
The guy there told me that he had the couple (including yours) that had already shipped, and six coming in by the end of March, of which I bought one. Don't know how many of the other five were or are sold. He said that when those six are gone, that is it for the 45's.

How many scored?

Hey Gang,

Just wondering if my post paid off for anyone. How many folks bought a Panny SA-XR45 from SoundCenter based on my original post?

Enjoy,
