The 99 and Metis are the only Rogue pres that use the 6SN7.  The Perseus uses the 12AU7 (or is it the 12AT7?).

Can't say I am a fan of this pre, heard it a few times in quite a few different systems, while not offensive it never seem to quite get out of the way...always threw a sorta sweet 'mist' over the resultant sound.

Directly, none.   I've just always liked the sound.   Martin's experience is probably correct though, in that it does have a romantic flavour, maybe not completely neutral. If you are looking for absolute truth, its not.  However, it adds a tiny bit of 2nd IMO but not much else.  This can be a good thing depending on the system synergy.

Regarding the sound f the Mapletree, It sounds like what I'm looking for.  Im not looking for absolute truth, I want to connect with the music and enjoy. I just want to get the best sound I can get within a certain price range.  And the Mapletree sounds like it may just be the ticket.

Ok, I'm down to the wire and need some assistance.  If you had to choose between the Rogue Metis Magnum and the Mapltree Ultra 4A, which would you choose and why?  I'm going to pull the trigger on one of these and I'm still undecided.  The reason? I've heard the Metis, but never the Mapletree. Features are similar and so is used price which I can get them both for.
