I mostly play cd's and my current player is on the blink.

I'm wondering what the current thinking is on "cheap & cheerful" replacement options, DVD or CD?

Recommendations and why?  Thanks to everyone!

Roymail:

IMHO CD's sound much better played on a dedicated CD player. A CD player does one thing. A DVD player does a lot of things that create noise and lowers the quality of CD playback.
