Those of you that have had positive experiences, what caps and inductors did you use or compare?

Solen?, Hovland?

Where did you buy them?

I've tried many different Caps and including Solen, Hovland, Jensen, Auricaps and liked the Theta Caps the best. I got them from SonicCraft, however Jeff now has his own brand of Cap, which I heard is real good. Also on Inductors, I really like the Alpha Core 12 Gauge.

Ditto what Brad said.
Sonicaps and Alphacore from Jeff Glowacki, www.soniccraft.com

While you are at it, why don't you buy a few feet of Goertz MI1 just to compare against your speaker wire? It's only $3.95 per foot.

Here's a link to a Perfect Lay Inductor:

You'll probably have to cut and paste multiple lines into one web entry

Here's a link to a Air Core Inductor:

Here's a link to a Capacitor:
http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&User_ID=11225297&St=2269&St2=-36947957&St3=84591607&DS_ID=3&Product_ID=16031&DID=7

Hope that helps.

One comment though. The better the drivers and speaker implementation, the more you'll hear the improvements with better crossover parts.

Have a great day,

Brad

I've got a perfect homegrown picture of a DIY. It's a DIY webpage I setup of the last speakers I had before the Excelarray's. The first set of pictures you can click on and see the Inductor, Capacitors and resistors.

The benefits of an upgraded crossover is much better sound. It's not just cut and dry, since other components in your system can have a big efffect on things. Better crossover parts can make a harsh sound become smooth, a thin sound full, a annoying high shrill sound sweet. The list goes on and on and as I've said before. The better the drivers you're using the more improvement you'll hear.

Hope that helps.

Have a great day,
