Been doing some research on the high powered Class D amps lately. There certainly seems to be continued advancement in the last few years, to be sure.
For example, the latest amps from D-Sonic (M 3 Series) now all feature the Abeltec boards, which has generated some buzz on other audio websites. Some folks think that they are a step up from Ncore in overall playback. Specifically, the upper midrange and treble as is reported to be the best Class D had to offer.
Need to read up more on the technology, but it supposedly works on a phase principle as opposed to pulse width modulation (PWM). Corresponded briefly with Dennis of D-Sonic, and he seems to be very knowledgeable.
Maybe these are the Class D that will win some of us old curmudgeons over.
The prices seem very reasonable. 1375.00 built for 400W RMS a channel seems like a good deal (especially if it is as good or better than the Ncore or ICE).
So, anyone audition the latest Abeltec amps yet?
