Ok, I switched over from AT&T to Sprint now after my trial period ended I am having extremely painfully slow data speed access.  I have contacted Sprint about this issue, visited the Apple Store, visited the Sprint store and they had my phone worked on or better said, troubleshooted.  However, I still have data problems to the point that I try to avoid at all cost not to use it due to its slow speeds, lack of access etc.  Sprint inform me that the problem has to do the the Apple Phone and not their services, hmmmm, how can that truly be?  In any event, I am trying to cancel my contract w Sprint, returned my Iphone to them and go back to AT&T!  I rather pay a lil more and get the services that I need and want instead of dealing w this BS!   

Has anyone dealt w this issue w Sprint? Can I try to cancel my contract w them and avoid all these excessive fees?

I got the same problem with Verizon . It's not your carrier.

I'm not tech savvy but I am logical. If your iPhone works properly for Wi-Fi then the speed problem is with the carrier's signal. If your Wi-Fi is just as slow as your 3g then you might conclude it is the phone that has problems. My kids tell me that Wi-Fi will normally be quicker than carrier transmission.

This is just based on logical troubleshooting. Other members might contradict me based on superior knowledge of how these things work.

Not to be argumentative, but the iPhone is an Apple product and has been incorporated in these discussions for some time as both a music source and a remote. It's basically an iPod Touch that can make phone calls.

That being said, the smartphone circle seems like logical next step since we all seem to have one embedded nowadays, but that certainly is a step away from audio tangentially.

Oh, say it isn't sooo....   My Sprint iPhone 4S is in the mail.   

AT&T's data access for the iPhone is generally faster than the others because they have the HSPA 14.4 protocol enabled.  Still Sprint's and Verizon's speed should be acceptable.  My Sprint Droid phone has acceptable data speeds.

Who knows when Verizon or Sprint will have HSPA enabled on their phones plus you can't talk and do web surfing at the same time    At the end the saying goes, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR is so true...  I miss you AT&T and I wan't you back!

No "NOT" acceptable by any means, why have a so called UNLIMITED data package when the services suck? Plus at the end your getting frustrated, pissed off and regretful plus your not even saving, WTH I got robbed into believing that crap...

After countless customer service calls to Sprint, visiting Sprint retail stores and finally yesterday afternoon after speaking to a supervisor of Sprint customer service they agreed to release me of my contract without a penalty or cancellation fee.  I didn't hesitate to return to AT&T store and re purchase my White 64gb Iphone.  I was able get my unlimited data package back, due to customer win back offer through the rep of the store and %15 discount on all of my services.  I will NEVER EVER again go to Verizon, Sprint etc.

When it comes to speed, performance, data services AT&T has the best speeds PERIOD!  Proven to!  Just because these companies offer you the Iphone and cheaper plans does not mean that you will get the services that you are paying for so comparing apples to oranges is somewhat true.  Needless to say that I am happy FINALLY!  Sidenote:  This is NOT an advertisement for either carrier, however, just my experience w them ALL...

Well, this is a classic case of YMMV.  My experience differs in that I started with Nextel which was awesome until Sprint bought them.  Next was AT&T and, boy, what lousy service!  I am now with Verizon and am happy with the company and better customer service (which drove me away from AT&T and Sprint).  I am, however, dissatisfied with the device I chose ('Droid Incredible, incredible it's not) but that's another thread.  (On another forum  )

I guess it all depends on the City, State or location.  Personally, it would be nice to just have one Cellular provider like the old days of having a home phone, today we have too many companies, pay as you go, att, sprint, verizon, us cellular, kricket, blah blah blah!

Well, I swapped my Droid phone for an iPhone on Sprint.  My driod had acceptable speeds ~2MBs download and ~1MBs upload.

I am on the same Sprint network, testing the the same locations (work and home), and I am getting much slower speeds on the iPhone.  We only have 3G here, so I expected the Droid and iPhone to have similar data speeds.  I was wrong, and I have no idea why the iphone would perform worse than my driod on the same 3G network.   

On the iPhone, I am getting ~0.4MBs download and ~0.3MBS upload.  The decrease in speed is noticeable and sometimes make my smartphone more of a dummy (doesn't respond to things or responds slowly).

My iphone is ok, it appears to be a network coverage issue.  I went to the Sprint store which happens to be right by a Sprint tower and I got ~1.5MBs download and ~1.0MBs upload. 

I really like Sprint, but if you are getting an iPhone, do a speed test first, on a friend's iphone in your area.

A new software upgrade and now Iphone say's its 4G, instead of 3G.  I really haven't notice the difference honestly or maybe its just a placebo affect to make people think "Hey I have 4G" which probably you don't, not sure.  But who knows...
