SW1 Schumann Resonance device- just bought one!
« on: 12 Mar 2012, 08:41 pm »
I thought I'd try these out. Anyone have one of these laying around? If it works and the price is right, I'll take it for a spin.
Send me a PM.
Thanks,
John

I just bought one myself from the seller in Taiwan. A most fascinating device, I definitely hear what the reviews say it does (although some claim not to hear any influence on the sound of their system.) One of the more fascinating tweaks I've encountered.

Is wearing an aluminum foil hat required? If so, I think Im ready! :D
Seriously, a friend has one (he's very taken with it), and I've heard it once, but didn't A/B the device. The soundstage was huge and VERY 3-d, but I was listening to his superb $40k system as well, with his new Daedalus speakers which I had never heard.

Apparently, if anecdotal reports are true, we vary in our receptivity to the effect of Schumann resonance. I found its effects slightly disorienting the first 24 hours. I couldn't reconcile the things I heard happening to my system's soundstage with any known mechanism of action or affect. Does it affect the listener's psychology/physiology or something mechanical in the realm of classical physics? Beats me. I also got one because of the tantalizing results of a small scale study of 56 residents in Hokaiddo Japan on people with high blood pressure. There was a statistically significant variation in blood pressure readings between days with and without exposure to Schumann resonance fields. Men were more affected than women in the study. See the link to a National Institute of Health paper detailing the medical study. While this isn't the sort of large scale study that constitutes scientific proof, the cynic in me believes it would have prompted further study if the results could have led to a commercially patentable product that would have resulted in profitable technology. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2656447/

I'd like to give one a try too.  What's the best one?

The one I heard was the SW1, which is being sold on A-gon for $165 plus shipping. Search A-gon for Schumann, see the listing under "Tweaks".
I'm going to my friend's on Saturday, and will listen more to it, and A/ B it off/on.

The Kemp Elektroniks Schumann generator also looks interesting, it has a variable output, unlike the SW1. www.kempelektroniks.com/Shunt-Conditioners/Schuman-Resonance-Plug.aspx
There is also the Earthsafe generator that has a tunable frequency output. www.lessemf.com/schumann.html Here's a link to the review of the Kemp generator: www.stereotimes.com/acc032811.shtml
The Kemp might be with the extra expense because it has an antenna that can broadcast the signal independent of the generator. The signal needs to be broadcast from at least five feet up in the room for maximum effect, so bear that in mind when deciding where you'll locate any given device. The Kemp antenna might be less visually obtrusive than the SW1, depending on your circumstances and room.
