It is not capable of Hi-res.

Here was Yeo's reply to the same question on his forum

"monica's tda1545 dac chip decodes down to 48khz/16bit only"


This dac sounds excellent with redbook and is not fatiguing at all.

It is a serious bargain and punches way above my asking price.
