Including FLAC Songs in iTunes Music Folder
« on: 28 Feb 2012, 08:47 pm »
A very basic question for the computer cognoscenti:

The music on the external HDD connected to my BDP-1 is essentially my iTunes library from my laptop, with any FLAC downloads converted with DBPA to ALAC. The file on the HDD is iTunes/iTunes Media/Music.

Is there any reason I could not include FLAC format songs in this file both on my laptop and the HDD, or do I need to set up a separate file for FLAC format music, with the iTunes file limited to music with :? Apple-compatible codecs?

Thank you. I am getting tired of converting all the FLAC music, and some of it is in Hi-Res.

When you say iTunes "file" and the FLAC "file" I will assume you are referring to folders.  iTunes doesn't monitor folders, so it only knows about music that is imported into its library and registered in its database.  So you can put your FLAC files in your iTunes library folder and iTunes won't even know it is there.

Thanks, Steve. That is likely what I meant. I will try it tonight and see if anything explodes.
