I'm not sure something like this should be discussed on an open forum. All sales are at retail ;)

I bought foreign, at an authorized dealer, for little under 60% of the normal retail price here. This was including shipping.

I lucked into a really good deal on the 4B-ST that I purchased in 2001.

I bought a demo unit that looked perfect and still all of the paperwork and the Bryston box.

The Bryston box is in the attic and is the current home of my Turntable.

I guess I should get the Serial Number off of it and figure out when it was built.

As I have said before ..... As soon as it becomes unprofitable for the dealer or distributor the company goes away.

James,

What is the difference between your definition of a "dealer" and a "distributor?"

Are these terms used interchangeably?    Doesn't Bryston go from it's manufacturing facility(Bryston), directly to it's "dealer" network (2 step process)?

Do you use a "distributor" network, that then sells to it's "dealer" network (3 step process - manufacturer, distributor, dealer)?

But... The local dealers here charge me € 5979,- for a new 4B SST2. I cruise the interweb a bit and find a brand new 4B SST2 (even newer than Mafico offers) for about 3800 euros, including shipping and customs fees from Asia.
So... Should I support my local dealer and feel ripped off BIG TIME, or should I buy the newer version amp for a lot less on the other side of the planet, and feel more than confident that it will not give me any problems anyway and enjoy this marvellous amp and have enough money to spare to buy about 200 CD's?

Hi Anonamemouse

I think,  like most, people will generally act in their own best interest and that is perfectly understandable. I am just pointing out that if enough customers in a given market area decide to buy from sources outside that area eventually whomever is representing Bryston in that area will cease to do so.

I wish there was a model that worked worldwide and satisfied all involved but so far I have to rely on my dealers and distributors if I wish to stay in business.

Hi Danberg

In North America we sell directly to Dealers and overseas through Distributors.
