Do you leaver your Brystron gear on all the time

There has been much discussion on this topic in general. I was wondering if you turn your amps and preamps off between uses, or do you leave them on. What have been the results of what ever choice you make

I have all three of my SST amps trigger on when the SP 1.7 turns on.  I only turn on the SP 1.7 when I use it.  If I left my SP 1.7 on, I wouldn't need to the heat on in my house in the winter.  There has been the discussion that amps sound better when warmed up.  I agree this is the case if you are running class A amps.  The Brystons I have seem to sound pretty much the same if they are turned on for 30 seconds or 30 minutes.  The other discussion point is that the electronic life can be shortened by turning on / off the gear.  I don't buy into this premise if the gear is properly designed.  Besides - you won't have to worry for about 20 years. :)

Amps constantly powered up

Hi Guys,

I'm new here but am not new to Bryston, having owned a number of  their pieces over the years.

I agree with the others that there is no reason to leave the units powered up: they can draw an appreciable amount of current. So your electirc bill soars while your wallet shrinks. And I too have noticed that the amps seem to reach, or "come on song" as the Brits like to say, optimum performance within minutes of having been powered up.

BTW, I took a look at my power meter when leaving my 14B ST powered up in idle.... that little wheel was busy. Had been leaving it on until I observed this; now it's shut off after each session.

(Am interested in any members' thoughts on the hi-fi rags rather snobbish attitude toward Bryston. It seems to me that they always take great pains to temper any review with a few cavils, almost as if to suggest they'd lose their highend credentials by giving an unqualified recommendation.)

What do you guys think?

Current Bryston lineup:  14B ST amp; 5B ST amp; SP1.7 pre/pro. Previously owned stuff: .5B preamp; BP 25 preamp; 4B ST amp.
