My Schiit Asgard is burning in
« on: 24 Jan 2012, 10:39 pm »
My Asgard arrived today and has been cooking in for about 3-4 hours.  The sound has already changed.  It started real smooth and laid back on my HD650's, but after a few hours got quite a bit brighter and thinner.  So now, I've got my classic 600 ohm AKG Studion 240's on it.  They are hard to drive and to get to open up...with the volume at noon, they sound pretty good.  Only thing I've used with more drive on these phones is my Marantz SA15 cd player.   The headphone amp in that is strong!  I can't go above 10 o'clock on the level with that.  Looking forward to how the Asgard will do once it's all settled in.

About half way to where I hope it ends up.   Doesn't get all that hot
and still a bit bright.   Very transparent...hmmmm...am I becoming a basshead?

In my case, the bass never really developed with my HD650's.  I tried two other amps...one solid state and one tube that did quite a bit better.  Not a dig at Schiit...they work great for many folks, just not for me.  Sent it back.  Thanks for asking.
