On 720p versus 1080p, you may not notice the difference on a smaller (less than 50 inch) screen at a normal viewing distance. If you are planning on a larger set or close-up viewing, the higher resolution would be worthwhile. Otherwise, 720p can look very nice.

I have a 42 Panny plasma that I view primarily from around 8-9 feet.  720p.  All material looks good.

For the record I don't own a Blue Ray player, so all my sources are appropriate for 720p.

Agree that viewing distance and source material is what should drive any 720p vs 1080p discussion.

Update - Best Buy was not able to deliver the 720P TV on a schedule that worked for me, so I nixed that deal.  I was then able to find an excellent deal on a 1080P S30 Panny.  Got the TV set up last night - very pleased - everything looks good on this TV (even non-HD content).    Mfg date is Nov, 2011,  which helps mitigate my concerns of power supply problems.

Happy New Year!

Do it! I have a 60 Panny and love the thing! Most realistic picture I have ever seen. At 1080 and a 600Hz refresh rate, duuude!! Thank about awesome for sports and action movies!!! Concerned with quality? Throw extended warranty at the Buy and no worries! They fix it at home!
Good luck and hit them straght!!

Hi Bogiedr

I've been looking for something large that is good for sports & movies - what model Panasonic plasma do you have?

Thanks
