Leak TL/50 Plus
mono block power amplifiers

Leak TL/50 Plus monoblock power amplifiers. Vintage, vacuum tube, stereo amplifier set, very rare models. These were the highest powered and the highest priced amps built by Leak and are the most rare and best sounding. Used by the BBC for monitoring, they had lower distortion and higher power than other types. 60 watts per channel, Ultra-linear design, heavy steel chassis, heavy terminal board with PTP wiring, heavy choke filter and top quality transformers. Beautiful build and sound quality, with a clear and sweet sound and plenty of power for most speaker systems. Completely restored with top quality components, improved input wiring, and extra fusing for best protection. Uncommonly good! $4000.00

Several circuit upgrades were executed and yet 99% of the original circuit is left to retain the vintage flavor. No destructive mods have been made. All components are of top quality and rated for at least the voltages and currents present. I cleaned-up the input circuit and installed new, gold plated RCA jacks for lowest noise and greatest reliability. It now matches well with both vintage and modern preamps. Extensive fusing has been implemented to protect the rare and valuable transformers. Two additional fuses protect the high voltage sections in addition to the factory primary fuse. The cathode bias has been renewed and adjusted to be more safe, reliable, and to support current production tubes. The only original caps left in the amps are the main filter caps. That was done for cosmetics primarily and it is possible to conceal new caps under the chassis and retain the originals for the most vintage look outside. That would improve the SNR and tighten-up the bass even more. The amps have tremendous bass output and top end clarity through the full range speakers they have been tested on. I fabricated metal, ventilated covers for the bottoms of the amps and added feet to those to allow excellent air ventilation. The original mounting hardware clips are present and were used to install the bottom covers so that no new holes were drilled into the amplifier chassis. This is the TL "Plus" version of the amplifiers which make use of large choke filters. There was some paint flaking from one of the choke bell covers and I mixed some paint to match it fairly well and touched that up. It could be matched even more closely but it serves to prevent further damage and looks decent. This is hidden behind the heat shields from the front anyway.

These are both antiques and items of electrical nature and no warranty or guarantee is provided. No returns are accepted on eBay item sales. You can pick them up in person if you like and their operation will be demonstrated for you on site. Sales are not made on eBay or through PayPal outside of the US. The amplifiers are also for sale locally in Salem VA.
