For sale is a beautiful pair of late model VMPS Tower II SE speakers with a rare burgundy stained veneer. The original owner purchased these speakers brand new in November 1999. I am the second owner.
Rated 7/10 for age. The speakers are excellent functionally, and cosmetically they only have a few really minor blemishes. The grille cloths look good, as well.
These are 8 ohm speakers with fairly high sensitivity. Recommended power is 20 W to 350W. They go low to around the 25 Hz range. Besides the dual 12" carbon fiber bass drivers, there is a 12" slot loaded passive radiator located in the bottom of the speaker. When these speakers are properly set up, the bass is guaranteed to be the best you'll ever hear.
There are three pots on the speaker: one is located above the binding posts on the rear of the speaker - This is the super tweeter level control. The two pots on the front are for the tweeter & midrange controls. These controls, together with adjustments to the passive radiator, allow the speakers to be fine-tuned to varying room acoustics. Alternatively, the speakers can be adjusted to suit personal tonal preferences.
The two binding posts on the back are for bi-wiring or bi-amping. There is a toggle switch to choose between running one pair of posts or two. However, for improved clarity, I defeated the internal jumper mechanism, so jumpers are necessary and included. In addition, the midwoofers were upgraded in 2008, per Brian Cheney's recommendation, and this further improved clarity and focus.
The speakers weigh approximately 120 lbs. each. They are 44" high, 15.25" wide and 15.75" deep.
