This is a mint condition pair of Ascend Sierra 1s, in the truly beautiful high gloss expresso finish.
As many have noted, the Sierra 1 may be the best value ever for a fine quality speaker, offering smooth, dynamic, wide range sound and an open soundstage that compares favorably with the best at twice its price. The build and finish quality is even better, IMO. The laminated bamboo used in the cabinets does wonders for the bass response and overall clarity.
These are not just great for the money; they are great sounding, period.
This pair is 18 months old and in perfect condition, with no scratches or marks. There is an area at the very rear of one of the tops (~1/4"x1.5") where the wood stain did not cover evenly, so the color is a bit lighter in this area (see pictures). The cabinets appear darker in normal light than with the flash so it is not very visible in a normal setting. The gloss finish in this area is perfect, however.
I made a couple of simple changes which improved these already great sounding speakers. I replaced the cheap internal wiring with PCOCC copper wire on the woofers and silver clad OFC /teflon dielectric wire on the tweeters and bypassed the tweeter caps with .1 mf Mundorf Supreme caps. The result is an even more open and detailed soundstage and more extension on the top end. If you've read that the $380 NrT tweeter/x-over upgrade improves the basic speaker you may find that this pair offers some of those benefits.
Speakers will be shipped in the original, very solid packaging (double boxes w/ poly foam caps), complete with cloth bags and test printouts for this pair.
Price is firm and a great bargain. Paypal or MO is ok.
