I would go with the iPad if you want the best interfaces available.

VFP is just a virtual front panel of the BDP.

I've been using the iPad (with mpad installed) and the Samsung Galaxy tablet (with MPDriod). Both are similiar in use. The ipad seems to have 3 of the andriods screen pages on the same "desktop" area. I have chopped and changed between the 2 systems - not sure which I actually prefer as they both get the job done rather nicely. Only wish I have is to see my cd covers on the Samsung like I do with the iPad. Next wish - how to control the rest of my system with a tablet

  James, took your advice.Just ordered a new IPad. Arrives next week. Can't wait.
        By the way, is the I Phone 3 too old a model for Mini 2. That's what I am using.

Yes the mini 2 is os4.   The iPad will work great make sure you try mpod and mpad apps.

Just planing my conversion to BDP and looking for a dedicated interface that doesn't cost $600. Is the Ipad still the only interface that provides the "flip through albums"  or will this be available on other devices?

Yes the App -MPAD is the best if album art is important to you.

We have not looked at the Playbook yet and not sure we should spend much time with it given the poor sales.

I'm a new BDP-1 owner and have used it with both the iPad and Android Tablet software. Even though I prefer my Android tablet for other uses, the iPad MPAD app is the most polished tablet interface at this point. I've been using it exclusively since first trying it.

It runs on the Droid Bionic and the Galaxy Nexus as well. Also tried it, albeit very briefly, with the Toshiba Thrive tablet, and the LG 8.9" tablet.

I'm interested in side-loading it onto the Kindle Fire to see if it'll work.

I got a playbook. The new OS is to be released in Feb. and is supposed to run android apps. I am hoping they come through with this.
