this is (unfortunately), not gonna happen any time soon. but down the road, we plan to move and my number one concern will be transforming the basement into MY room. and although this room will have a projector, TV and 7.1 surround, i will primarily think of it as being a music listening room first, and any compromises that will have to be made will err on the side of better music SQ. it will be a new from the concrete walls out construction, so i can do whatever i want. my question is this. is there a fundamental difference between building a music room as opposed to a HT room? most sites are geared around deadening the room from sound leakage which is not really a concern of mine. i don't care if it's loud upstairs when i have things cranked up in the basement, i just want the basement to sound good. so is green glue, stud isolation hangars, sound deadening drywall, all this stuff - is it even necessary? or can i go with just good solid regular construction (which would obviously be a lot cheaper) and then use a room treatment plan setup?
