How good is a $60k phono stage?   We're about to find out...

Crazy money, but amazingly good.  Only out of the box for three hours, and though it had plenty of hours on the clock, it will need a couple of days to fully stabilize.

AMAZING....

Sorry for the confusion, is it $60K or is that a mistake in typing and it should be $6K?

Hans Ole Vitus makes astoundingly good equipment (but yes it is expensive)

Here you go!  It's the two almost identical grey boxes.  AVID Acutus Ref SP on other rack, soon to join the Volvere.

The power supply on the right weighs almost 100 lbs. and the preamp is about 60.  Gain, loading, etc are all adjustable from the front panel.  It features one balanced and one single ended phono input and a pair of balanced outputs.

There is no MM (47k) setting in stock form, but Mr. Vitus told me that you can get that if you need it.  Might be nice for the Grado Statement 1, which is a moving iron cart that only puts out .5mv, but loaded at 47k.  Loading does go up to 2000 ohms, which will be nice for the SoundSmith Sussuro Paua, which is ideally loaded around 2000 ohms.  There is a lot of investigating to do!

What turntable / arm / cartridge will you use with the $60K apparatus I wonder?
Surely better than the Avid and SME looks like in the picture.

Maybe the new Clearaudio Goldfinger Statement cartridge + Kuzma 4 point, or Clearaudio TT2 Tangent arm, + what turntable?
What allot of phono preamp bucks to justify in a system!
Seems like you should have $100K speakers and about that in amplification as well?

I have read a great review by Fremer I believe on the Vitus phono pre, would love to hear one in an appropriate system.
