"Best overall sound was a dead heat between Synergistic Research’s room 8030 with the YG Kipod II Signature speakers and Empirical Audio’s Iris room with the YG Kipod II Signature speakers."

Steven Stone came in on the last day, when the system was most broken-in.  Big difference from even Saturday.  We also found that we could take out the transformer isolator between DAC and amps.  The BPT conditioners evidently do similar things, only better in this situation.

Are the components lists for each room correct?  If they are, I notice four things in common:

1. Same speakers
2. Same music server
3. both rooms have acoustic treatment
4. both rooms have power conditioning

Looks like you both brought your "A" games.  Congratulations.  :thumb:

I can't speak for the other room but the equipment list he showed for our room is correct.

Don,

Both rooms had the same speakers, and both had the 2011 Mach2 Music Server.

While both rooms had power conditioning and room treatments, the conditioning and treatments were very different.

Bryan and Darrell,

Thank you for the responses.  Regarding acoustic treatment and power conditioning, I was not placing a value judgment on which products were better.  I was merely observing that the vendors in both rooms did not go quietly into that good night.

The vendors in each room refused to passively accept show conditions and took positive steps to overcome those limitations.   The results were obvious. That is a position I endorse both in shows and in my own listening room.

I think it's all about the BPT power conditioning!!!   :D

Sure wished I had made it back on Sunday. I heard the potential, it was just a little too sharp for me on Saturday, way too sharp on Friday. :duh:

One thing I should add (not on the equipment list) is that on Saturday and Sunday we powered the 2011 Mach2 Mini with a new BPT 12VDC power supply instead of off the battery supply. It sounded more extended and cleaner in the high frequencies with deeper, tighter bass--mids were pretty even in detailing with the midbass (surprisingly to me) having more body using the BPT supply. Better overall IMHO.
