System Overview

Homemade Altec 604's from Great Plains Audio mounted to a custom 9 liter cabinet constructed from 18 laminated pieces of 1/8" Void Free Baltic Birch plywood with internal bracing consisting of the same thickness braces, as well as solid maple maple in spots determined by listening. The sides of the cabinets are curved and took a long time for Drew to build to my specs, but he did a great job and they turned out great. Rosewood veneers and matching outboard crossovers. Some cotton damping behind the driver, but not anywhere else. T+A MP2500R, AVA Fet Valve pre, AVA DVM M225's or Analog Ethos 2A3 SET amps and yes, I use EQ via a pair of vintage Urei 539's. Great EQ's and no negative effect on sound quality that we can hear. Using two Daedalus double BOW subwoofers, with two 12" drivers per cabinet, which might be the only pair in existence. They are only playing from around 40hz and below.

Music Preferences

Most everything short of Opera, Rap and Hip Hop. Particular fondness for Jazz, Classic Rock and Prog Rock.

Room Description

2nd Floor on this newly constructed home and very good acoustically. 12 GIK absorption panels on side and rear walls and two Tube Trap diffusors on the front wall. 85" Sony mini led TV is there, but doesn't interfere with my music enjoyment.
