STEP 3: Attaching the lower shelves - First install the bottom shelf as described in other photo. Then slide it to the bottom of the posts and tighten. This forces posts to be straight, plumb and square over their entire length. Now tighten bolts countersunk into top shelf. Be sure to hold posts square. Starting with the lowest shelf first, the middle shelves are then installed individually in the same way as the bottom shelf. That is, by laying each one across the underside of the top shelf, spacing and lining up, and attaching hardware. Then slide each shelf into desired position and tighten the hardware. Rather than use a level, I just measured along the uprights and put pencil marks on the (4) uprights. By definition, this must be level. Once all middle shelves are installed, positioned and tightened, loosen bottom shelf and slide into the desired position, and tighten.
