Amps & stuff
Amps and preamps I find to be very nice! Some are mere dreams , be it... As you can tell, I'm an avid lover of good design! hehe...
FM111 - little nukes. A good second.
Kinoshita - Rey Kinoshita 450W monoblocks... Transistordesign The best , end of story!!! They are simply on a different level of quality... The epitomy of High End!!! Mia E' Veloce ...
Vac pre
Crimson CS710 pre amp. - Mia E' Veloce ...
Abrahamsen SA-1 (the two channel power amplifier reborn!) - Early tests in Norwegian press show this beast of a mere 40w to have the heart of a lion!!! Dynamics and finesse in perfect union! Talk about making it powerfull this time around!!! It can be bridged for some 120w or thereabout. Have you ever heard of a 40w amplifier with a 200Amperee capacity? You have now! Go Norway!!! (200Amperee's pulseoutput / 40Amperee's continous i belive) and a 0.5 ohm low limit. Did I say I own gear from this marvelous designer of transistoramps? I DO!
Abrahamsen SA-1 - Check out the extreme 1000VA transformer!!! On a 40watt amp!!! Talk about going mad with headroom!!! picture credit: (R. Danielsen (a norwegian hifi journalist))
CR Woodham KT88 - Integrated 25/50w tubeamp. Sporting 5687, 12AX7, KT 88. Power-amp mode mono mode bi-amp mode , Pre-amplifier out. Transparent and dynamic.
Brocksieper "Earmax" pro. - Ah! lovely headphone amp! Current tubes in the one I have: Mullard M8162 6h23EB "grey plate" tubes. 60's and 80's . A very good combo! Captures all details, air and decay, awesome decay! Dead neutral! Spot on! The 6H23EB is really a low noise tube! In this combo, no tube rush at all! Extreme articulation, that's the allure of the Earmax. Tracks dynamic shadings like crazy. A real Chameleon. Sounds like the recording. A marvel this little OTL amp! Enables the listener to correctly guess the brand of toothpaste the singer uses...Every time :)
Roksan Platinum ST1308 - Roksan amp.
Adyton Cordis 1.8 - I'm sure people remember the Forsell Reference? Well that was a Adyton 3B somewhat modified. (Different faceplate...and a couple of changes to the bias circuitry I think?) Norwegian superamp. I think it needs a revision (The version by Forsell...), but that is my personal thinking. It is immensely powerfull for its in contrast lowish rating of 350w pr channel. I've heard it. and it reminds me of an older Krell( but with much more clarity) , and with a lot more power than its rating suggests. It is one of the very few superpowerfull amps that has the speed as well as the power to drive anything. But it is a bit "normal" sounding maybe. It does not impress you until something that requires insane transient speed comes along. Then... WTF? WTF!!! its fast!!! This amp only sells in europe, as far as I know. Not sure of this, but it is a insane amp. Oh yeah, it leaves the Forsell in the dust this little monster. It really does! (my private opinion..) Mia E' Veloce ...
EC stuff (Can you tell I'm a fan of this brand... hehe!) - Well, what are the two bottom components then? Ec's new DP line. I did not get to hear them at this demo, but they look different, so I guess they sound a bit different to then.
Electrocompaniet EMC 1UP (New version) - Picture taken at the Horten Show 2007, Norway. I think this player is a visual as well as a auditory statement! Beautiful player!!
