Speakers

A collection of wonderfull cabinetry and genuine love of the art of speakermaking. Yeah, none of them are DIY, but all prototypes do start as just one pair of diamonds in the rough! Yeah yeah, And there is gonna be lots of gems from Norway in here as well...not always made here but still! Guess where I'm from...
Thumbnail for Respons Grand D (Yup, it's that swede again...) - The Magazine Fidelity (of Norway) features this picture (Taken by Knut Vadseth) in it's
test. (I've made a scan, so the picture is a bit "wrong", but you get the general idea of how this speaker looks)
"Drool" !!!
This speaker is hereby placed in my gallery, and on my personal "Drool" list.
Apparently this latest incarnation is bestowed with resolving power of a nature not
yet heard! Dang!
Extrapyramidal effects are nasty (Drug lingo, if you know of this)
As long as the effect is inside the pyramide, it's okay.
I think it's a safe bet that no problems will ensue here, only music!
Thumbnail for Midgard audio (Norway) "Gaia" - Nice design!
Ongoing project.
Designer is Jørn Rune Kviserud

It's a big speaker!

Thumbnail for Weckstrom COMPACT - Okay. All info on this baby is in Finnish...I dont speak that...
But I can read it sort of...guess a bit...
Really low xo some 1200 - 1500hz?, like amphion really.
Dovetail birch cabinet, solid cherry? wood baffle (large wooden blocks glued together)
Shielded units. 7 liters cabinet volume.. Designer is an acoustic dude.. Looking at the filter
I think it's 12db? The usual Seas alu drivers..
It looks fantastic!!!

Must spread really good this baby!
Thumbnail for 3-way concept drawing. - Front view.
Was never built. (drawing made some 10 years ago)
But I think it looks kinda cool. (the back is 3
Thumbnail for Westlake BBSM - 15VNF - Well, not much to say about it.
Big, bold and accurate. 99db sensitive. That does help!
Looks like a JM Lab Utopia, costs about the same.
500lbs a piece, like your average piano...
Thumbnail for Midgard Audio Gaia. - I attended a show today.
Gaia was making music.
This one looks set to be a world class contender.
It sounded spectacularly resolved.
While not fully dialed in, it showed promise, and stunning dynamics!
Picture was taken by "mor 10" - a user on a norwegian forum called AV.
Anyway. A small recording of them, playing (low resolution file..)

Thumbnail for Electrocompaniet Prelude loudspeaker. - This little (42 high...) speaker really impressed me at the Horten Show (Norway) this fall!
It is a little svelte speaker, but sung quite nice!
This is a co-project between several people.
Me and my brother had a very nice talk with Volker Hunger from EC about this speaker.
Again, this speaker sung way over its asking price!!! Way over!!
EC has done it again I belive, this is a gem! This one played music and loved doing it!
I don't know how else to say it! It was an emotional experience to listen to it!!
Thumbnail for Dynaudio Sapphire . 30 year commemorative edition. - Some new model, sounded very good, and that was under show conditions!
Evidently called The Sapphire.
Actually, I'd say it sounded like a Master Evidence for smaller rooms!
Or thereabouts..

I'm sure you could buy two sets and place one set inverted on top
of the other set, and clamp them together... hehe! Now would
not that be crazy, I'll say.. But I'm sure it would work!!!
Hehe, but really, it looks like a bottom half of an evidence speaker!!

But seriously, this was awesomely good from Dynaudio! Almost an Evidence this!!! Almost!!
Thumbnail for Peak Consult The Dragon - Some new model from this Danish firm.

Just saw the picture.
Looks like an attempt at challenging J.M.Labs Utopia speaker.
The amp in the rack there is a Vitus with only 25w class A.
That was evidently enough according to some forum user who
had the honor of listening to this beast. Incredible dynamic even at that
low input power.
No price as of yet, but I'm thinking this one must cost ... a lot...!
Thumbnail for Doxa 8.1 Signature/Silver S/Revelator... - A norwegian classic.
No longer in production.
So.. how does it sound?
Like Sonus Faber Extrema mated to Quad ESL.
Goes really deep in the bass with great dynamics.
I don't know how deep. But I've never heard anyone use subs with it.
It had a cabinet of real wood.
The price was low compared to what it can do!
A bit difficult to place. This is a Ferrari...with testicular fortitude..
Mia E' Veloce ...
Thumbnail for Midgard Audio Gaia. - Okay, when did you last see a designer headbang while his design was thumpin out the beat?
I've never seen it!
Rock on!!! Cool picture! (Taken by the owner of the speakers I believe, at the setup)
Price... Well, lets just say that this is in the "the designer will come to your house and set it up,and even test the 'boogie level' before leaving" - category ... Well that's what it looks like on this picture!!!
138db loudness ability, 6 x 1200w amplification. The subwoofers alone are 374lbs, and that is just the drivers! (Aura sound)
This is a massive system!!! The maximum tolerance is about 25 KW ...! That's 25 thousand watts. It looks like a big speaker, but considering what's actually in there, it's amazingly compact!
The one thing I can remember from the demo (at the show) was that the music was "believable", regardless of where you sat or stood in front of them. And the bass... Yet small sounds like a frail triangle was just that, frail and pure. I have not heard all the top speakers out there
, but I have a distinct feeling that I've at least heard one of them!
True 16hz (in room) and upwards bandwidth...

Thumbnail for Volent Paragon VL-4 - The memories come flying back...
My first thought was... They are remaking the IRS?
Ah! It is gorgeous!!!
