Thumbnail for I had bought one of those "extra hands" type things with the alligator clips but it wasn't very useful. I probably could have spent more money and found a better version but I ended up buying a teeny set of Irwin clamps and they worked very well.

Thumbnail for I had the benefit of many posts on various forums as to what pitfalls to watch for and what mods were the best bang for the buck. Here I chose to replace the stock caps with some Mundorf Silver Oil Film capacitors. It seemed a reasonable price to pay but the decision was based purely on price point vs how much I paid for the kit. And the fact that I have no experience whatsoever with these kinds of 'upgrades'.
