Now building: LGA775 with quadcore and stuff. SILENT!!!
Thumbnail for Asus F5R , T2450, 2 Gig Ram, 250 Gig HD. ATI X1100, Vista Premium. - This lap top is extremely silent, and very very fast for nomal use! It does not have a great graphics card or a superb screen, but other than that.. It is a LOT faster than my old fullsize floorstanding computer! Programs start with blistering speed! You do have to read some on-line vista setup guides to get the most out of any vista system, but once you have done this rather tedious and knarly process, vista proves to be very capable! Everything you connect start working! And it's cold running! It's silent... the cpu fan actually stops alltogether in "quiet office"! if you place it on a surface that can absorb heat!!! That is SILENT!! I've also found that it needs to be re-installed from the get go, because the factory install is not the best! Format the entire HD and make two partitions of equal size, then use the restore dvd to re-install. The machine is now much more stable. But as I have also found. I'm not getting a pc again with a restore dvd. I want a Full OS disc!
